For the Heritage Lakes Community Association, that means that it’s time to start getting ready for some exciting upcoming events!

Our Friday Night Sports Night resumes this evening at École la Mission with some badminton and balloon fun! Activities get under way at 6:30PM. You can find the schedule for upcoming Sports Nights by clicking here. Please note that we do not have a Sports Night every Friday as the school has first access to the gymnasium so do be sure to check the schedule before you come!

As for Special Events, we have two in the works. Our Halloween Party is set for Friday, October 21st. Bring your little ghosts and goblins out for some games, treats and fun! While it is only September, and way too soon to start thinking about Christmas, please do add Friday, December 16th to your calendars as that’s when we will be holding our Christmas Party.

Remember, we’re always open to feedback if you have thoughts or comments about how we can continue to make Heritage Lakes an excellent place to live!

The event will take place between 9AM – 11AM and as always will feature great food, games for the kids (including a Bouncy Thing!) and a chance to get to know your neighbours better. The cost will be $3 if you bring your own plate and cutlery, $4 if you don’t.

Due to the overwhelming turnout that we have seen at this event over the past few years, we have decided to move the event over to École la Mission. This will give us more room to spread out and the park can also be accessed from both sides of Heritage Drive which should help eliminate a bit of the congestion.

As always, we are all looking for some volunteers to help out with the event. If you could spare a couple of hours, please contact Betty at bettyhs@shaw.ca. Look forward to seeing you all there!

Also, a quick reminder that we have a Facebook Page where you can also stay connected to the latest HLCA news. You can find it here.

The City of St. Albert has sent us the following update regarding some overnight work that will occur at the Havenwood Stormwater Site:

IMPORTANT OVERNIGHT CONSTRUCTION NOTICE

March 25 – 28

City of St Albert

Havenwood Stormwater Management Facility Upgrade

The City would like to inform all residents located in the vicinity of the Havenwood Stormwater Pond of the overnight construction that will take place the nights of Friday March 25 to Sunday March 28 inclusive. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused due to the overnight construction.

The construction schedule is in a situation where the pond has been excavated to design grade. The next step is to install the pond liner, which can only be done if no water is present. In order for no water to be present at this time of year, the line must be installed when temperatures are below freezing. The weather forecast shows a window until early next week where the liner installation is achievable. Accumulations of water will delay the liner installation. The overnight construction is required in order to have the liner installed under frost conditions. If overnight construction does not take place or in the event the pond liner is not installed prior to temperatures rising, the project will be delayed and postponed until mid-summer or late fall.

The overnight operation will not be as loud as the daytime operation. The liner installation requires labour, small generators that will be used to fuse the different liner membranes that are currently on site into one large pond liner. There will be some equipment used to assist with off loading and moving of the liner. This will be kept to a minimum. Lighting the work space will be required, however this should not impose much illumination to the surrounding residents, as they will be used in the bottom of the excavation and concentrated in the work area. Since the majority of the work being conducted is in the bottom of the excavation the noise will be minimized, however there will be noise.

Deford Contracting Inc. the prime contractor will ensure the site is kept safe, all personnel and procedures meet the OH&S Act, Codes and Regulations.

Again we apologize for any inconveniences due to the construction activities.

Any questions or concerns about the ongoing construction can be directed to the City of St Albert Bob Stephen – Senior Project Manager.

Phone 780- 418- 6671, Cell 780-497-9782

If any emergencies arise, the following Deford Contracting representative can be contacted:

Troy Legault – Site Superintendent Cell 780–203–2337
